The Flood of Sleep Deprived Hilary

Okay so I flooded my apartment...Here is the story. As you all know by now, there has been A LOT going on recently. What with nursing school, studying, working, having a new puppy with diarrhea, Mom having cancer/surgery, Dad breaking his foot, and getting ready for the holidays, I can't say I have been getting a lot of sleep.

After a 48 hour school week, I worked til 1900 on Friday, November 9th, and when I got home I had to clean the carpets because my dog had "issues" on the floor. I started a bath so that I could relax and then came into the living room and sat on the couch to take my shoes off and guess what happened....I got one shoe off and FELL ASLEEP. Me! Me who has so much trouble falling asleep, passed out with the water still running.

I don't know how long I was asleep, but when I woke up, I was a little disoriented and put my foot on the carpet and it was wet.... I immediately thought Sebastian had peed on the floor again, but then realized the water was everywhere.

OH SHIT! was all I could think. I went into the bathroom and turned the water off. It had flooded the bathroom, the hallway, part of my closet and part of my bedroom, and then it went through my dishwasher into my kitchen and dining room. I was fortunate that (A) I live on the first floor (B) the water didn't touch any of my furniture or my electronics (C) I have an understanding apartment complex.

I called the maintenance number and then called a water extracation company that would "call me right back" - they still haven't called. Our maintenance man showed up with a wet/dry vac and had already called the carpet guys to meet us at my apartment to vacuum up all the water. It took a couple of hours to get up all the water, but they were able to get most of it out and place some dryers to get the rest.

I couldn't do anything but laugh. I have NEVER done anything that irresponsible or stupid. If I hadn't been so exhausted, I might have cried rather than laugh, but at least now I have a funny story to tell. And Sebastian had fun swimming....see below pic.

*Obviously this isn't really Sebastian in my apartment, but he really did have some serious fun playing around in it. Ha ha.
