The most expensive "snip" job ever

So I decided that I was going to get Sebastian neutered. He has been a bit aggressive, and I was tired of it. So much for studding him out :( Too bad too because he is so pretty. Anyways, so I called the Temple Family Pet Clinic and inquired about the cost of neutering. I was told that the cost of the neutering would be $120 if he was under 49 1/2 lbs and $140 if he was over it. I asked what all that included and was told "everything...neutering, anesthesia, pain meds, and antibiotics to take home". I was sold so I made the appointment.

Due to scheduling conflicts, I had to have my Dad take Seb. He gets to the vet and they say that he has no appointment. But magically they can "fit him in". Then they tell my Dad that he "has to have" bloodwork done and an IV for easier recovery. By the way that was an added $100+ and I thought that the $140 included "everything". It ended up costing me $270 that day alone.

Next problem....they put disolvable stitches in. I did my best to keep him from licking himself, but seriously he is a 7 month old puppy. Who can really watch him ALL the time. So, imagine that...the incision got messed up and infected from him licking it. I took him back to the vet, and they restapled the incision and then put a cone on his head (this is funny business). I also had to get antibiotics - another $61 down the drain. I still can't believe that this "everything included" neutering went from $140 to $330 just like that.

Here are some pics of Seb with his cone. Funny stuff. Its clear so he can't see it, which means he is constantly running into stuff. My stomach hurt from laughing at him.

Poor Sebi! I use to hate going to the vet even more than I hate going to a mechanic. I always felt like I was getting ripped off, and if you dare say "No he doesn't need that." then you a bad pet owner. I am sorry all of this happened to you, but at least you got a good(albeit expensive) laugh out of it! :)
